Overview

Supervisors are responsible for the daily supervision and operation of the department staff. Supervisors will maintain a working employee schedule in collaboration with other shift supervisors. Supervisors must have a working knowledge and skill in performing all procedures related to the department. Supervisors are registered therapists maintaining competencies that enable them to work in environments specific critical care and ground transports. Pediatric Supervisors will maintain additional competencies for pediatric intensive care settings, pediatric ER, and Kids Care Critical Care Transport. This position has a direct involvement in maintaining The Joint Commission readiness.

Qualifications

Education required: High School diploma or GED

License, certification and/or registration: Must be licensed by the ASBRT. Must be registered by the NBRC. Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist (NPS) by the NBRC is preferred for pediatric supervisors. Certification of PALS or ACLS is preferred for all applicants and is required within one year of employment. Certification of BLS is preferred for hiral processes and required within the orientation period, not to exceed 90 days of hire or transfer.

Experience: Minimum of two years of experience performing critical care therapy is mandatory; Experience in pediatric and neonatal settings is preferred; Two years of pediatric intensive care experience is preferred for pediatric supervisors. Additional experience relating to intubation and critical care transport (Kids Care or Adult) competencies are preferred upon hire and mandatory within 2 years of employment

Additional Skills/Abilities: Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly; Must have excellent clinical and teaching skills in all areas of Respiratory Care and the ability to perform and recommend procedures in all areas of Bronchial Hygiene, Oxygen Therapy, non-invasive cardiology, Respiratory Diagnostic Procedures, and Mechanical Ventilation in Critical / Non Critical care settings. Must be able to organize and accomplish goals while meeting deadlines, and to properly maintain work schedules. Analytical ability with a working knowledge of statistics is required in order to gather and interpret data in situations where the problems are somewhat complex. Must be proficient in the use of computer, to include word processing, database and spreadsheet applications.
