UW Medical Center-Montlake has an outstanding opportunity for an RN Case Manager on our Inpatient Rehab Unit.

WORK SCHEDULE

60% or 90% FTE

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 08-1630 (60%)

Option for one additional 12 hour shift as staff RN (90%)

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

Our 16-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit is rated as #8 for Rehabilitation in the nation, by U.S. News and World Report, and continues to hold CARF (Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) certification. Rehab nurses provide specialized nursing care to patients with the following: spinal cord injury or disease (including tetraplegia with mechanical ventilation); acquired brain injury; stroke; tumor; amputation; neuromuscular diseases; musculoskeletal diseases; solid organ, blood, and marrow transplants; and mechanical circulatory support devices (VADs). Rehabilitation is provided by an interdisciplinary team composed of the patient and family and individuals from many health care disciplines.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Identify clinical indications for admission

Track hospital events and course in order to justify patient admission and continued stay for payer reimbursement

Communicate with third party payers regarding patient clinical progress

Assess and communicate potential reasons for payer denials and attempts to resolve the denial with the team at the time of identification

Participate in activities of identifying high risk vulnerabilities to the organization

Use critical thought processes and decision making in monitoring the continuum of care

Perform duties as rehab staff nurse

REQUIREMENTS

At least 2 years of current/recent acute care inpatient rehab clinical nursing experience

Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Washington by start date

Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers
