To perform specialized respiratory therapy services under medical supervision.

Qualifications

EDUCATION : Successful completion of an AMA approved Respiratory Therapy program. Maintains Florida license as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. EXPERIENCE : Previous hospital experience preferred.
COMPETENCY: see above criteria for competencies JOB KNOWLEDGE: Work is moderately demanding, requiring standing, walking, lifting patients and pushing equipment. Should be familiar with JCAHO standards and requirements. Basic understanding of computers. Good verbal and written communication skills required to be used during contacts with physicians, hospital staff, patients, and the public. ADDL CONSIDERATIONS: Exposure to infectious patients, needle puncture hazards, and hazards related to compressed gases. All Respiratory Therapists will hold the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential prior to their first day of employment. Respiratory Therapists are required to maintain Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support or the equivalent as determined by the site of hire.
