A middle school Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) position is available for a contracted assignment from now through the end of the school year, with the possibility of extended summer services (ESY). This role is based in Jamaica, NY, serving a diverse student population in a dynamic educational environment. The schedule is four days per week, from 8:10 AM to 3:00 PM, providing compensatory services and direct support to students with speech and language challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct speech and language screenings and comprehensive evaluations to determine eligibility under IDEA or Section 504.
- Interpret assessment results and produce thorough evaluation reports.
- Develop and implement individualized therapy plans tailored to each student's needs.
- Provide direct therapy to students individually or in small groups, monitoring and documenting progress toward IEP goals.
- Participate actively in IEP meetings, contributing to goal development, accommodations, and placement decisions.
- Collaborate closely with educators, counselors, psychologists, parents, and other stakeholders to support student communication needs.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, ensuring accurate documentation of therapy sessions, progress, and billing.
- Support students using AAC devices and provide training to staff and families through workshops and educational sessions.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and, if qualified, supervise graduate students or Clinical Fellows.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid New York State SLP certification/license.
- Experience working with middle school-aged students in school settings.
- Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and NYSED standards and regulations.
- Strong assessment, diagnostic, and report-writing skills.
