Join the Amego team and make a difference in the lives of the people we serve! Amego Inc. is seeking a 32-hour Occupational Therapist to join our Day Services team! This position would be split between our two day services locations in Attleboro and Northboro, MA.

The Occupational therapists lead the process in development, implementation, and coordination of the occupational therapy program. Occupational therapist will assess each member’s therapy and development skill needs areas; and make recommendations based on the assessments to the Day Hab in order to meet the members identified areas of need.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates the client’s ability and formulates the member’s occupational profile through a variety of functional, behavioral, and standardized assessments, skilled observation, checklists, histories, and interviews.
  • Completes the Service Needs Assessment in congruent with other IDT members.
  • Contributes in the admittance process and completes all necessary paperwork according to regulatory standards.
  • Synthesizes evaluation results into a comprehensive report which reflects strengths and barriers to member participation in the day habilitation environment; directs program development; and guides evidence-based intervention.
  • Develops occupationally based intervention plans (provider support strategies) based on member needs and evaluation results.
  • Trains direct care staff and other support personnel on specific goals/objectives, support strategies and data collection.
  • Assessing the need for and making appropriate recommendations for potential home modifications and/or safety equipment to reduce members barriers and promote client and staff safety.
  • Assessing the need for and providing recommendations for adaptive equipment to increase the client’s independence and safety performing ADL’s.
  • Collaborates and acts as a resource for staff and/or caregiver on replacing any durable medical equipment identified in need of repair and/or replacement.
  • Trains direct care staff and other support personnel on using an ambulatory device and/or transfers to different surfaces, such as a bed, chair, toilet, or shower in order to perform self-care and personal tasks safely.
  • Collaborates with other disciplines to ensure team understanding of program member occupational performance strengths and needs, through evaluation, therapeutic program planning, and service delivery.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offer recommendations, develop intervention plans to achieve Day Habilitation Service Plan goals.
  • Maintains clinical records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines, and day habilitation policy.
  • Instructing direct care staff and other support personnel in techniques to improve positioning, reduce the need for restraints, and maintain skin integrity
  • Prioritizes and schedules work tasks independently.
  • Follows all time-keeping policies and procedures; dependable and punctual.
  • Crisis intervention including consistently carrying out behavior plans; intervening in crisis situations; proper implementation of Behavior Management & Emergency Restraint interventions; accurate & timely completion of incident reports & other related paperwork.
