Inova Alexandria hospital, acute care team is looking to add a dedicated, passionate Occupational Therapist to our growing team. This is a full time position, 40 hours a week. Must be willing to work two late evenings a week until 6:30. 1 Major and 1 Minor holiday a year. 1 Saturday a quarter. Ideal candidate will have at least a year in an acute care setting, a team oriented attitude and passion for helping our patients.

Occupational Therapist Job Responsibilities:

  • Documents evaluation results clearly and completely according to department policy.
  • Completes daily progress notes that reflect patients' responses to treatment, actual performance and an assessment as to status, relevant to the treatment plan, and eventual discharge needs and treatment summaries if needed.
  • Completes discharge notes that include a summary of the course of treatment, progress toward goals, discharge needs, recommendations for follow-up and patient and/or family education.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors and outside contacts.
  • Provides educational materials and methods appropriate to patients' level of understanding and motivation.
  • Demonstrates essential skill competencies in the use of treatment modalities, equipment and protocols. Performs re-evaluations according to department guidelines adjusting the treatment plan as needed.

Occupational Therapist Additional Requirements:

Education :

  • Bachelor of Science, Occupational Therapy. Masters Degree Preferred.

Certification :

  • BLS certified through the American Heart Association.

Licensure:

  • Virginia License required upon start.

Experience:

  • New Grads accepted

Preferred Experience: 1 year in an acute care setting
