Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

Location: Mantey Heights in Grand Junction, Colorado
Job Type: Full-Time/Part-Time
Reports To: Licensed Physical Therapist, Director of Rehabilitation

Job Summary:

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to deliver high-quality physical therapy services to residents in a skilled nursing facility. The PTA helps residents improve physical function, mobility, and independence, following established treatment plans in compliance with Colorado state laws and facility policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Implement physical therapy treatment plans developed by the supervising Physical Therapist.

  • Assist residents with exercises and mobility training to improve strength, balance, coordination, and functional ability.

  • Monitor resident progress and report changes or concerns to the Physical Therapist.

  • Document daily treatment sessions and resident responses in accordance with state, federal, and facility requirements.

  • Educate residents and caregivers on safe mobility techniques and use of assistive devices.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized therapy environment.

  • Participate in care team meetings and contribute to interdisciplinary planning when requested.

  • Adhere to ethical standards, confidentiality guidelines, and the Colorado Physical Therapy Practice Act.

Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree from a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.

  • Current Colorado PTA license in good standing.

  • CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).

  • Experience in geriatrics or skilled nursing facility preferred.

  • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to follow a plan of care and work as part of a collaborative rehab team.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist residents throughout the shift.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and help with resident transfers and mobility tasks.

  • Stamina to perform repetitive physical tasks in a clinical setting.

Compensation and Benefits:
  • Competitive hourly wage $25/hr - $35/hr DOE
