Speech Pathologist (10-Month)

The Speech and Language Pathologist reports directly to the Speech/Language Principal. This position is responsible for developing students' individual communication programs. The Speech and Language Pathologist communicates positively and effectively with all program staff, as well as manages and works with children both within and outside of the traditional setting.

QUALIFICATIONS

A master's degree with Virginia State Licensure as a Speech Pathologist. Experience in communication and speech/language programming, teacher/parent consultation, and speech and language assessment is required. Must have the physical ability to effectively work with students with challenging behavior.

  • Effectively plans, coordinates, and implements a therapy program consistent with established guidelines, policies, and procedures.

  • Manages program resources effectively.

  • Maintains accurate student/program records.

  • Demonstrates current, accurate, and comprehensive knowledge.

  • Provides intervention/instruction that promotes student learning and addresses student needs.

  • Selects and uses resources compatible with student/program needs.

  • Maintains effective communication and rapport with students.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in administering and interpreting data from speech/language and communication assessment instruments.

  • Employs a variety of evaluation strategies to measure student performance and/or program effectiveness.

  • Uses assessment information for decision making.

  • Consults/collaborates with team members according to established SECEP guidelines.

  • Consults/collaborates with parents and caregivers.

  • Demonstrates a professional demeanor and practices ethical standards appropriate to the profession.

  • Participates in a meaningful and continuous process of professional development.

  • Fosters an organized and positive environment.

  • Performs related work as required.
