Our Mission:

At STAR Physical Therapy, we exist to serve. We strive to make a difference in the health and well-being of our patients through clinical excellence and personalized care. Through servant leadership and intentional relationships, we commit to creating a family culture where we use our time, talents, and resources to care for our patients, our communities, and one another.

Job Description

OVERVIEW

STAR Physical Therapy is in search of a servant leader responsible for the strategic planning, direction, and management of all revenue cycle operational activities. Your success will be measured by your ability to optimize financial performance across our clinics by fostering an environment of high-quality service delivery to enhance efficiency, streamline revenue cycle processes, and drive cost-saving initiatives within a multi-site company. This role actively contributes to overall company operational targets and impacts daily business decisions across the organization.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive revenue cycle strategy tailored to a multi-site physical therapy practice with a $50 million annual revenue, establishing a metric-driven approach to managing all revenue cycle functions and providing regular performance reports to leadership, ensuring efficient and consistent operations across all locations.
  • Develop and execute strategies across functional departments, with a specific focus on partnering with our front desk operations and accounting teams, to accelerate collections and improve patient financial engagement.
  • Direct the development and implementation of tactical plans to achieve strategic revenue cycle goals, proactively monitoring progress against key performance indicators (KPIs) across all locations throughout the year and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain and foster patient, physician, and payer relationships through a proactive, customer service-oriented approach that addresses the unique needs of a physical therapy setting.
  • Oversee and assign day-to-day tasks to the centralized revenue cycle team, guiding them through complex issue escalations and interactions with clinic staff and patients. This includes potential direct engagement with key stakeholders to cultivate strong, long-term relationships within and outside the company.
  • Partner collaboratively with other operational leadership on process improvement initiatives, standardized training programs, data analytics to identify trends and opportunities within the revenue cycle department and ensure consistent compliance with all relevant regulations and payer requirements.
  • Ensure that revenue cycle policies and procedures are current, consistently enforced across the department, and aligned with best practices in physical therapy billing. This includes maintaining a high level of patient and personnel satisfaction related to billing processes.
  • Develop and maintain an effective organizational structure within the revenue cycle team, including efficient recruiting, specialized training for physical therapy billing nuances, consistent coaching, meaningful recognition, optimized workflow patterns, clear performance standards, appropriate delineation of duties and responsibilities, data-driven staffing level recommendations, and effective supervision.
  • Manage and expand relationships with payers, vendors, and internal stakeholders, fostering a collaborative environment to optimize reimbursement and operational efficiency for the physical therapy practice.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the overall financial health and operational success of the multi-site physical therapy organization.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressively responsible management experience specifically within Healthcare Revenue Cycle operations, with a strong preference for experience in a multi-site setting.
  • 3+ years in a leadership role as a manager or above, leading teams to improve processes across all revenue cycle functions, ideally within a multi-clinic environment.
  • Demonstrated strong judgment, influence, and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a calm, professional manner, particularly when addressing challenges across a large network of clinics.
  • Effective analytical skills, talent management capabilities, financial planning and analysis expertise, budget and resource development skills, and proven strategic planning abilities.
  • Strong negotiation, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to both clinical and administrative staff.
  • Excellent facilitation skills and the ability to build consensus across diverse teams and locations, with a strong emphasis on fostering responsibility and accountability.
  • Hands-on knowledge and in-depth experience across all RCM functions, relevant KPIs (e.g., visits per case, authorization rates, denial rates by payer, etc.), and a thorough understanding of end-to-end RCM processes in a physical therapy context.
