Our UCLA Health West Valley Hospital is seeking to hire a full-time Patient Care Coordinator to join our Orthopedic Surgery Department. You will provide administrative and academic support to ensure a smooth patient-centered experience. Primary duties include:

  • Serve as first point of contact at front desk (triage calls, greet visitors, and check in patients)
  • Coordinate patient care, including referral process and surgery scheduling
  • Conduct patient interviews and complete encounter registrations
  • Schedule and confirm appointments
  • Collect and verify patient demographic and financial information
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative instructions, including authorization details and estimated financial liability
  • Verify insurance benefits and document for financial review
  • Monitor patient accounts for status changes
  • Obtain and manage radiological studies (X-rays, CT scans, MRIs) and other diagnostic test results
  • Other duties as assigned
Salary range: $29.42/hr - $42.14/hr Job Qualifications

Previous experience in a medical office setting

Working knowledge of Medi-Cal, HMO's, PPO's, third party payors, etc., authorizations and eligibility requirements and regulations

Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook e-mail and basic knowledge of PC applications

Ability to operate Dictaphone equipment and transcribe medical reports, manuscripts, etc.

Skill in performing basic arithmetic

Ability to work independently and exercise appropriate decisions with minimum supervision

Strong communication skills to interact with persons of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds

Experience in working as part of a team, establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with all staff members, management and the public

Skill in organizing and prioritizing assignments
