This position will serve as one of the primary Speech Language Pathologists to the NewYork Presbyterian Och Spine/Allen Hospital. In this role, you will evaluate and treat adult stroke, neurology, medicine, geriatric, and post-surgical patients in the ICU and acute care setting, as well as support our busy Emergency Department. You will perform inpatient Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing and inpatient, and outpatient Modified Barium Swallow studies daily.

This position will provide float coverage to the Milstein Hospital at our main Columbia location as needed. The ideal candidate will be flexible to work between sites depending on census.

This position is Monday-Friday 8:30 am-4:30 pm. Coverage of 2 holidays per year is required.

Required Criteria

  • Minimum 3years of experience working with medically complex patients in the hospital setting.
  • Competent to perform Modified Barium Swallow Studies and/or Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing independently.
  • Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university.
  • Licensure required as a Speech Pathologist by the State of New York.
  • Certification in Speech-Language Pathology by the American Speech and Hearing Association.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred Criteria

  • Clinical experience working with medically complex ICU/acute care patients.
  • Competency to manage patients with tracheostomy and ventilator dependence.
  • Desire to work with geriatrics, palliative care, neurology, and spine surgery patients.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English.
