POSITION: The Assistant Superintendent is seeking applications from qualified individuals for the position of SPEECH PATHOLOGIST ESY PROGRAM.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must have a Master's Degree in Speech and Language Disabilities from a NYS registered licensure qualifying program accredited by ASHA.

Candidate must possess valid New York State Speech and Language Disabilities Certification.

Candidate must possess fingerprint clearance from New York State Education Department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works cooperatively with school personnel and the local education agency.

Collaborates with school personnel, such as teachers and psychologists to best meet the needs of all students. Provides services which hold the well-being of each student paramount.

Maintains records of the speech-language program and prepares periodic reports as required. Keep data for program planning and decision making for students. Complete records for Medicaid reimbursement accurately and in a timely manner as appropriate.

Demonstrates knowledge of federal, state, and local rules regulations and laws.

Serves on student intervention team/Individualized Education Program (IEP) team as appropriate.

Administers Speech/Language assessments according to acceptable procedures.

Analyzes and interprets information to make recommendations regarding the need for speech-language services. Presents and explains data to IEP Team. Prepares evaluation summary. Presents information to school personnel about language disorders as they relate to literacy and interactive communication skills.

Plans evidence-based interventions appropriate for individual students and groups of students. Provides activities commensurate with students' interests and aptitudes. Selects/implements evidence-based practices which support the goals and objectives of the speech-language program.

Adjusts intervention strategies based upon student performance.

Promotes effective interpersonal relations with students.

Develops appropriate IEPs based on students' strengths and needs.

Provides and follows schedules for assigned schools and informs appropriate personnel of departures from schedule.

Engages in continuing education and professional growth activities related to speech-language and education.

Assumes any other duties assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
