$47,921.64 - $71,882.46The Recreation Therapist is responsible for the evaluation, treatment planning, treatment implementation, documentation, and reporting of all patients assigned. The Recreation Therapist develops and administers therapeutic groups that enhance the patients' physical, cognitive, social, psychological and emotional well being. The Recreation Therapist II acts as an advanced clinician for the department. Performs additional assignments for the department.Requires Bachelors degree in Therapeutic Recreation and Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist certification.
Job Description
- Administers patient evaluation and treatment employing recreation therapy procedures and interventions.
- Develops and administers therapeutic groups to serve the patient population.
- Develops and implements treatment plan in collaboration with treatment team and patient.
- Schedules patients, maintains written and verbal communication regarding patient and departmental concerns.
- Submits accurate billing information.
- Participates in teaching, including annual inservice to peers.
- Participates as a clinical instructor for students.
- Acts as advanced clinician for the department precepting other staff and sharing clinical expertise with other department members.
- Completes a pre-approved interdisciplinary project for the department.
- Promotes and contributes to all sanitary and housekeeping policies which are designed to maintain the cleanliness and readiness of all clinic and general staff areas.
- Participates with department and unit quality improvement activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must hold active certification from the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (or be eligible for and actively seeking certification)
- Minimum of 18 months of acute care or inpatient hospital experience. Must be able to provide therapeutic interventions in all delivery arenas
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals. document patient care on established forms
- Ability to communicate cooperatively and effectively to patients, family members, employees and others
- Ability to listen well, to take direction and to engage in interactive dialogues with others. seek out the input of others to achieve consensus
- Ability to share clinical expertise with other department members
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
- Must be honest, to be punctual, and to perform the job in adherence to the highest standards of ethical conduct as defined by AMC and the tenets of the profession
- Must be accurate in such matters as record-keeping, and to use good judgment when performing the functions of the job or when interacting with others
- Ability to accept direction and carry out orders
- Ability to work cooperatively with others and to avoid the creation of unnecessary conflict
- Must adhere to AMC's policies, procedures and practices, and to utilize AMC's problem-solving processes for resolving grievances or disagreements
- Must anticipate and resolve potential problems to ensure the continuity of appropriate patient care
- Must identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to improve job performance through continuing education
