Job Description
Grain Valley School District is actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our Special Education team.
In this role, the Physical Therapist Assistant will work directly under the supervision of our district Physical Therapist, providing essential physical therapy services to students. This role will be instrumental in helping students achieve their physical therapy goals and enhance their participation in school activities.
Job Duties:
Provide direct physical therapy services to students as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and under the supervision of the district Physical Therapist.
Implement therapeutic exercises, activities, and interventions to improve students' gross motor skills, balance, coordination, strength, and mobility.
Assist in the assessment of students' motor skills and functional abilities.
Document student progress, treatment sessions, and attendance accurately and in a timely manner.
Collaborate effectively with the district Physical Therapist, special education teachers, other related service providers, parents, and school staff to support students' educational goals.
Assist in the adaptation of school environments and equipment to facilitate student access and participation.
Educate students, parents, and school staff on therapeutic techniques and strategies.
Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with district policies and relevant regulations.
Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and professional development as required.
Qualifications:
Valid Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license.
Experience working with school-aged children is preferred.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
This position offers the flexibility of full-time or part-time employment and the location is to be determined.
