University of Hartford Tenure Track or Clinical Applied Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy (2025-2026) Posting Number: F186P Tenure Information: Rank: Assistant Professor Job Description The College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions at the University of Hartford invites applications for one full-time Tenure-Track or Clinical/Applied Track Physical Therapy faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2025. Essential Job Duties The successful applicant will teach courses related to Pediatrics within the DPT Curriculum. Their primary responsibilities will include culturally responsive teaching, contributions to program development and assessment (including CAPTE standards), and active involvement in Department, College, and University committees. Tenure-Track faculty will be expected to maintain a) an active scholarship agenda resulting in peer-reviewed presentations and publications, b) excellence and innovation in teaching, and c) service to academic, professional, and/or Hartford area communities. Clinical/Applied Track faculty will be expected to a) maintain sustained excellence and innovation in clinical or professional practice, b) contribute to the profession through publications, presentations, or other publicly disseminated work, c) maintain excellence and innovation in teaching, and d) serve academic, professional, and Hartford area communities. Applicants should describe in their letter of intent how their teaching and/or scholarship or their professional practice will advance intercultural competence in all students. Applicants are also expected to describe in their letter of intent how their scholarship and/or professional practice contributes to diverse communities. Required Qualifications Required: An active Physical Therapy license or eligibility for licensure in the State of Connecticut For tenure-track applicants - A terminal academic degree: Ph.D., D.Sc., Ed.D, or equivalent in a health-related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment. ABD candidates are encouraged to apply, with degree completion expected by August 16, 2025. For clinical/applied track applicants - A Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree; or BS/MSPT AND an Academic Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy or a related field (Ph.D., Ed.D., D.Sc.). Preferred: Board certifications (PCS) or advanced certification; Clinical expertise in pediatrics and one or more of the following areas: cardiopulmonary, neurology, geriatrics, anatomy, and/or pathophysiology; Previous teaching experience in higher education settings in physical therapy; Open to using and sharing innovative teaching methods and comfortable using technology in teaching (e.g., evidence-based teaching strategies, team-based learning); Demonstrate evidence of a commitment to remain active in the related research areas, clinical, or professional practice, including contributing to the profession through publications, presentations, or other work; Previous experience working with, teaching or mentoring diverse groups or diverse students; Ability to work with diverse populations.
