What we are looking for:

As a Registered Occupational Therapist (OT), you will become an integral member of the Community Health Clinic (CHC) operated in partnership with Oak Valley Health and the Eastern York Region North Durham Ontario Health Team (EYRND OHT).

What you bring to the role:

As a member of the interprofessional primary care team at the CHC, you will work closely with Nurse Practitioners, Primary Care Physicians, and other Allied Health professionals. This new role is focused on providing clinical assessments, interventions, recommendations and maximizing the scope of the OT in a primary care setting. This role will also contribute to the creation of integrated clinical pathways within the EYRND OHT. You will also have the opportunity to participate in the ongoing program development and quality improvement activities.

Requirements:

• Registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario, in good standing
• Member of Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) and/or Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists (OSOT) is preferred
• Completion of a Masters of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy (M.Sc.OT) or equivalent
• Experience with psychosocial, cognitive, and physical health assessment and intervention skills addressing occupational performance
• Experience working with various patient populations across health care settings is an asset
• ADP authorizer designation and experience with wheelchair and seating assessment/prescription is an asset
• Minimum 1 year experience is preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated competency with electronic medical record charting systems and associated computer skills
• Evidence of continuing education and professional development
• Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards
• Demonstrates initiative and the ability to function both independently and as a multidisciplinary team member
• Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with organizations related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required

Work Schedule:

Successful applicants should be available to work Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., with occasional evening and weekend hours as required.
