Oversees the development and coordination of the therapeutic interventions program to meet the needs of the patients and to achieve their optimal level of health. Teaches important life skills (coping skills, etc.) to assist patient population to maintain adequate functioning in the community.Essential Functions
- Assists in planning, organizing and implementing therapeutic recreation interventions.
- Establishes yearly goals and objectives that serve as a basis for allocation of time, personnel and resources.
- Plans for adequate physical environment, equipment, and supplies.
- Assures patient care needs are met, quality services are rendered, provides age-appropriate and treatment effective programming and effective documentation.
- Assists in initiating new programming and expansion or revision of existing programming.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of human growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status.
- Documents individual patient's participation in sessions.
- Provides social, physical, intellectual and recreational interventions and meets state, federal and facility requirements regarding clinical documentation.
- Assists in developing, planning and implementing recreational therapy interventions on an ongoing basis in order to plan appropriate therapeutic programs.
Education, Experience and Certifications
Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation and possession of National Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specials (CTRS) and NC Recreational Therapy License (LRT) required. Excellent oral and written communication and leadership skills. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) from AHA required.Pay Range
