The Audiologistprovides a full range of differential diagnostic and rehabilitative audiologic services to patients of all ages who have peripheral hearing loss or central auditory disorder.

Position Highlights:

  • Location: ENT and Audiology - Quaker Lane

  • Audiology Services:
    • Adult and pediatric evaluations
    • Hearing aids and assistive listening devices
    • Bluetooth hearing accessories
    • Balance disorders (including vertigo and dizziness)
    • Dix hallpike testing and cananlith repositioning
    • Tinnitus evaluation and therapy
    • Industrial hearing conservation programs
    • Auditory brainstem response (ABR) evaluations (only non-sedated)
    • Ototoxic drug monitoring
    • Ear molds: including ear buds, hearing protection, and swim molds
    • This location does not offer cochlear implant services.
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week

What You'll Need:

  • AuD or PhD in Audiology required, unless a Master's degree in Audiology was received prior to 2012.
  • One year supervised clinical experience required
  • Experience in field of Pediatric Audiology preferred (Winston only)
  • Current license in Audiology issued by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
  • Eligible for Board Certified in Audiology (ABA Certification) or Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology
  • Current hearing aid dispensing license issued by NC Hearing Aid Dealers and Fitters Board required
  • Possess a strong, clinical interest and maintain versatility, creativity and adaptability
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and handle a high volume of patients

Job Responsibilities (Not Limited To):

  1. Performs comprehensive, professional evaluation of patients of all ages, primarily adults, referred for differential diagnosis of peripheral hearing and auditory function.
  2. Ensures that patients and/or their families are thoroughly counseled about any hearing or auditory impairment.
  3. Plans and recommends management for persons with hearing loss or other auditory disorders. Develops goals for patient's rehabilitative management with amplification and assistive devices. Recommends hearing aids, cochlear implants, and aural rehabilitation for patients for whom these options are appropriate based upon audiologic and medical evaluation.
  4. Acts as audiology consultant to educational, medical, and other professional service. Continuously seeks to improve patient care services and evaluates opportunities to develop new services. Coordinates and prioritizes the patient caseload to ensure that all patient services are provided in an efficient manner in order to minimize delay in diagnosis or therapeutic intervention.
  5. Provides and participates in the in-service education and training of audiology interns, medical students/residents, parent groups, and allied medical personnel. . Prepares and presents formal lectures to physicians, nurses, educators, parent groups and others on hearing loss, audiology, and communication disorders. Provides training for audiology interns who rotate through the department from approved academic training programs for clinical practicum. Provides orientation training to medical students and residents assigned to the department as part of their Otolaryngology rotation.
  6. Ensures age/developmentally appropriate patient care is provided in accordance with Age-Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served. Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.

Pay Range

$34.90 - $52.35
