Job Description
A full-time Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) position is available for the 2025-2026 school year supporting K-12 students in a school setting located in Dumfries, VA. This contract role involves direct, in-person therapy and assessment services to students, as well as consultative support to staff within the special education framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized speech and language assessment, screening, and therapy to students with communication needs.
- Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement IEPs based on evaluation results.
- Offer consultative and advisory services on speech and language remediation to school staff and related service providers.
- Maintain active communication with families, school personnel, and community health agencies to monitor student progress.
- Support staff in developing effective language programs in classroom and community settings.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Virginia SLP license.
- Ability to pass a Federal Criminal Background Check.
- Experience working with special education students in K-12 settings preferred.
- Proficient in assessment, evaluation, consultation, and individualized planning for diverse speech and language impairments.
- Strong commitment to supporting students with special education needs and their families.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to foster positive professional relationships.
- Knowledgeable about special education procedures, disability categories, and relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
Work Schedule and Location:
- Full-time, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.
- In-person role based in Dumfries, VA.
- Contract duration: August 13, 2025, through May 21, 2026.
