Position Overview

The Ohio State Universitys School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences invites applications for a clinical faculty member with expertise in neurologic physical therapy within our Physical Therapy (PT) division at the Associate Professor -Clinical , or Assistant Professor -Clinical rank. This position consists of an initial 5 -year appointment that is renewable based upon annual reviews. We are seeking faculty who will teach principally in the neurologic curriculum within the Doctor of Physical Therapy program in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences; mentor students; and teach other subjects in the DPT program or within HRS consistent with their individual expertise . Successful candidates must have appropriate educational preparation to teach within our DPT program. Our clinical faculty have a majority of their time committed to teaching but must have a record of excellence or strong evidence of ability to meet expectations not only as an educator but also as a productive scholar, and as a committed professional. The scholarship of discovery, scholarship of integration, scholarship of application, and scholarship of teaching and learning are all valued forms of scholarship for clinical faculty. All faculty are required to participate in service to the PT division and to the school, including support of activities for accreditation.

Performance Objectives

Successful candidates must be able to:

  • teach in-person and online within a neurologic physical therapy focus;
  • contribute to our graduate programs (MS or PhD) in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences;
  • mentor students completing case study projects in the DPT program;
  • contribute to the science of the profession through a focused scholarship program; and
  • contribute high level service to the program, School, College, University and professional organizations.
  • The candidate will undertake 65% teaching, 10 - 25% scholarship,10 - 25% service.

Education and Experience Requirements

Required : D octoral degree in physical therapy (or bachelors or master's in physical therapy plus an earned academic doctorate) ; licensure or eligibility for licensure as a physical therapist in the State of Ohio; evidence of strong teaching ability, including distance/online; ability to mentor graduate & professional students . C linical expertise in neurologic physical therapy ( e.g. neurodegenerative diseases, stroke, traumatic brain injury, SCI, etc. )

Desired : Earned academic doctoral degree ( e.g. PhD, E dD, ScD, DHSc ) . ABPTS certified specialist in neurologic physical therapy (or a geriatric specialist with a focus on neurologic physical therapy ) .
