Position Description and Responsibilities

The Department of Physical Therapy in the College of Health Professions is looking to hire a postdoctoral fellow to assist with a funded 3-year research study to develop a measure of prosthetic attention for use in persons with limb loss. This position is a restricted position, and is contingent upon grant funding for continuing employment.

The incoming candidate will be primarily responsible for the following responsibilities:

  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the project under the guidance of study Principal Investigator (PI).
  • Collection and analysis of participant data and assist in dissemination of project results.
  • Supervision of a Graduate Research Assistant.
  • Assisting with additional research activities including maintaining Human Subjects approvals and coordinating with the Research Study Coordinator and clinical staff to identify and schedule participants.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Must have completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in a health-sciences related discipline by July 1, 2025.
  • Excellent writing skills required, as evidenced by publications or grantwriting experience.
  • Must possess strong self-motivation, problem-solving ability, and open communication.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of professionalism, respect, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a postdoctoral fellow at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with individuals with lower limb loss.
  • Experience with mixed methods research designs.

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience starting at $52,704
