Under the direct, on-premise supervision of a licensed physical therapist, provides physical therapy treatment procedures to an assigned inpatient caseload. Maintains an orderly environment in the physical therapy gym and treatment areas.

Clinical Responsibilities

Read and review the medical record to understand the patient's diagnosis, precautions, goals, and treatment plans. Ask questions regarding unclear information.

Provide direct interventions in individual or group sessions as planned, especially gait training, exercise, and modalities. Can treat patients in any setting in the hospital, including the ambulatory network.

Evaluate the patient's response to intervention and document patient progress in the chart. Instruct patients and parents in home program, especially gait training and transfer.

Inform the physical therapist of progress/problems with specific patients.

Perform care coordination tasks associated with patient care, including communication with hospital and community providers, tracking of medical equipment, etc.

Academic Responsibilities

Maintain current skills and knowledge by identifying own learning needs, both formally and informally, to practice a lifestyle of life-long learning. Seek opportunity for clinical growth and development within the department through mentorship.

Pursue and achieve departmental competencies as assigned.

Attend inservices within the department and hospital as appropriate.

Administrative Responsibilities

Maintain productivity and fiscal responsibility in the provision/utilization of services.

Actively participate in department planning meetings.

Education Requirement

Pennsylvania State license as a Physical Therapy Assistant.

CPR Certification (within 90 days of hire).

Associate Degree from an approved Physical Therapy Assistant Program.

Pediatric experience preferred.

Level 4 Worker.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Interpersonal relationships skills that permit effective communication with parents, children of various ages, peers, and supervisors.

Schedule Notes

Approximately 3 months for summer coverage.

Monday-Friday: 8AM - 4:30PM.
