ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Conduct assessments within the educational setting using an ecological model to determine level of need. Develop educationally relevant therapeutic plans that include goals that can be linked as part of a student's educational program.- Provide targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate student participation and occupational performance within the school environment. Monitor and assess the outcomes of occupational therapy and the need to continue, modify, or discontinue interventions.- Evaluate the student's ability and formulate the student's occupational profile through a variety of functional, behavioral, and standardized assessments, skilled observation, checklists, histories, and interviews.- Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure understanding of student occupational performance strengths and needs, through evaluation, educational program planning, and service delivery.- Research, analyze, and apply adaptive technologies for students to enrich cognitive and motor skills.- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offer recommendations, and develop individual education plans and intervention plans to achieve IEP goals.- Document evaluation results into professional and accountable written reports that reflect strengths and barriers to student participation in educational environments.- Review reports from other health care providers who are requesting occupational therapy services, evaluate student progress on individual therapy plans, and revise goals as needed. Prepare reports of occupational therapy interventions and outcomes.- Consult with and educate parents and staff on occupational therapy interventions for students on site and through home programs. Attend and participate in Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) meetings as necessary to ensure that interventions blend with educational goals.

  • Adapt and modify the environment including assistive technologies and training instructional staff to meet individual needs and to help students function as independently as possible.- Provide in-service training and continuing professional development to teachers and resource personnel. Promote the need for occupational therapy services to teachers and administrators. Develop up-to-date best practices for therapy services.- Instruct and provide legal and ethical supervision of paraprofessionals in occupational therapy and instructional support on understanding, interpreting, and implementing intervention procedures.- Participate in continuing education for professional development to ensure practice is consistent with best practice and meets licensure requirements.Education and Experience:- Any combination equivalent to: a Master's Degree from an accredited university and curriculum and one (1) year of experience working with disabled youths in an educational or pediatric environment.Licenses and other Requirements:- Valid California Driver's License.- Valid registration by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.- State licensure.- Proof of continuing education.- May require First-Aid/ CPR Certification.PLEASE SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING ALONG WITH YOUR COMPLETED APPLICATION:
