Skilled Nursing Facility Speech & Language Pathology Assistant - Dumfries, VA

A Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) position is available for the 2025-2026 school year, serving students from PreK through 12th grade in an itinerant role across multiple locations within Dumfries, VA. This full-time, in-person contract opportunity runs from August 13th through May 21st, Monday through Friday, for 40 hours per week. The SLPA will work under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide targeted speech-language intervention and support individualized educational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in implementing speech and language programs designed by the supervising SLP to enhance student communication skills.
  • Administer or support assessments, scoring, and observation activities; assist with interpretation.
  • Contribute to documentation preparation including evaluations, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), progress reports, and communication logs.
  • Collaborate with therapists, teachers, parents, and other professionals to support student progress.
  • Attend meetings such as IEP conferences and parent sessions to provide updates on student functional goals.
  • Transport students as needed to therapy or testing locations.
  • Maintain an upbeat, positive, and collaborative approach while applying new strategies and techniques.

Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Speech, Language and Hearing or Communication Disorders.
  • Previous experience in school settings or as a paraprofessional preferred.
  • Training or experience in language and articulation therapy.
  • Strong communication skills, active listening, and ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and team members.
  • Willingness to learn and apply new methods.

Location: Dumfries, VA (Itinerant within multiple sites)
