Pinecrest Supports and Services Center (PSSC) is the only 24-hour residential facility for the developmentally disabled in the state, serving approximately 400+ individuals, with a Table of Organization (T/O) of 1300+ and a budget in excess of $100 million.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a current Louisiana Respiratory Therapist license and accreditation with the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
60% Administer respiratory therapy modality to individuals via small volume nebulizers, metered dose inhalers, oxygen concentrators, c-pap and bi-pap machines, tracheotomy care and suctioning, incentive spirometry and assess clients pre and post treatment with pulse oximetry, respiratory rate, osculate bilateral breath sounds, skin color, sputum characteristics, cough effort and pulse. Serve as lead worker over lower-level respiratory therapists. Carry out all physician orders and evaluations. Respond to all medical emergencies and codes. Perform and assist with CPR and client monitoring. Complete respiratory assessments upon individual's return from the hospital. Make rounds to complete ordered treatments and observations. Communicate with Physicians, nurses, and direct care staff to give the best possible quality of respiratory care. Document in progress notes and Medication Administration Record for any procedures performed or medications given.
20% Maintain and clean all respiratory equipment, including oxygen concentrators, suction machines, c-pa??, bi-pap equipment and air compressors. Provides emergency tracheotomy kits, ensuring all supplies are within expiration dates. Order and receive all respiratory supplies from Central Supply. Assemble and change out all disposable respiratory equipment, order oxygen and all respiratory medications from the pharmacy.
10% Maintain records of quality control and assurance reports, including respiratory assessments and pneumonia reports.
10% Instruct employees on appropriate areas of respiratory hygiene care. Conduct tracheotomy care evaluations for the respiratory and nursing staff. Meets with the Interdisciplinary Team as well as the Primary Care Providers and nurses to present and discuss pneumonia criteria, evaluation, and respiratory care recommendations.
