Job Goal: The key role of the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is to identify students with a communication disorder that may adversely affect a childs educational performance and/or to address the communication needs of students who have been identified as needing Speech Language Services within Odyssey Charter School.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess students to identify potential communication deficits/needs including articulation, expressive/receptive and pragmatic language
- Write evaluation reports and Evaluation Summary Reports based on student needs
- Generate, implement, and monitor Individualized Educational Programs
- Plan and provide services for students with speech/language impairment as well as students with various disabilities qualifying for speech as a related service
- Provide transdisciplinary speech and language services within the natural context of the school day
- Support use of Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) tools for students including modeling/support for classroom staff
- Serve students and assist staff with feeding/swallowing concerns
- Maintain case records for students including service logs, progress monitoring and quarterly goal reporting
- Complete documentation of services and progress reports for Cost Recovery (Medicaid)
- Collaborate and consult with parents, teachers, and other school staff
- Create schedule designed to meet all students service needs in collaboration with school/ staff schedules
- Licensed Speech Language Pathologist in the State of Delaware
- Completion of Masters degree program in the area of Speech and Language Pathology
- ASHA (American Speech/Language & Hearing Association) certified or working toward ASHA certification during Clinical Fellowship Year
- Must be able to stand and work continuously for a minimum of 4 hours per workday.
- Minimum lifting requirements- 50 pounds (with assistance).
- Must be able to use arms and hands without restrictions to accommodate the physical, mobility, and ambulatory needs of students.
- Favorable Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Registry Check for the candidate who is offered employment
- Tuberculin Test
