Gillette Children's is seeking a permanent full-time (1.0 FTE) Occupational Therapist to join the Gillette Children's Rehabilitation Therapies team at our Maple Grove location. Monday to Friday day shifts performing outpatient care with the occasional weekend required to cover inpatient services at our St. Paul hospital location.
Provides direct and indirect family centered therapy services for patients to increase functional abilities, independence and community integration. Contributes to department, program and service teams to assure achievement of desired outcomes.
Specific duties are determined by the work setting or patient population served; however, in all positions, serving patients with challenging and complex conditions requires a concentration of specialized staff able to work in highly coordinated teams. We organize care around each patients condition which requires staff at multiple levels and across many departments to exhibit exceptional teamwork qualities including communicating efficiently and effectively and adopting the behaviors required for high functioning integrated teams, consistent with our Gillette CARES expectations.

+ Requires specialty knowledge in human growth and development and multiple rehabilitation and habilitation program and service areas.
+ Effective team functioning requires working with a wide variety of disciplines at Gillette Childrens, the patient and family, community education and medical professionals, representative of public and private providers, interpreters, advocates and payers.
+ Providing on-going comprehensive education, guidance and support for patient, family, and community.
Pay & Benefits Information
The hourly wage for this opportunity is $33.98 to $50.99, with a median wage of $42.48/hour. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience, education, certification & licensure, and internal equity. Hourly pay just one part of the compensation package for employees. Core Responsibilities and Duties
It is anticipated that therapists will spend the majority of their work day in direct patient care. Therapists must have the ability to complete these activities and the related indirect patient care including same day documentation while providing safe patient care.
Utilizes information, completes accurate and efficient work, displays competence in the technology required for the position, follows policies and procedures, and actively engages in the work of the department.
+ Completes an evaluation utilizing principles of family-centered care.
+ Implements a therapy care plan utilizing principles of family-centered care.
+ Completes necessary administrative and procedural tasks in a timely manner.
+ Completes training in essential job competencies.
Qualifications
Required
+ PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE/REGISTRATION
+ Occupational Therapy State License
+ Current certification in CPR (BLS for Healthcare Providers through American Heart Association) or must obtain certification within 90-days of hire.
Preferred
+ NBCOT strongly preferred for Occupational Therapists
+ Knowledge: transition from pediatric to adult health and rehabilitation care and of rehabilitation practice for adults with Childhood onset disabilities.
+ Pediatric experience strongly preferred in Burnsville, Minnetonka, Maple Grove and St. Paul; desirable at Phalen Adult Clinic. Experience working with adults with childhood onset disabilities strongly preferred at Phalen Adult; desirable in Burnsville, Minnetonka, Maple Grove and St. Paul.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
+ Excellent customer service skills
+ Knowledge of child growth and development, rehabilitation theory and practice with a wide variety of childhood onset diagnoses and related considerations including anatomy and neurology, emotional behavior factors, family needs and issues, community transition and equipment.
+ Effective verbal and written communication
+ Ability to function as an effective team member
+ Competency in (occupational therapy, physical therapy or speech language pathology) evaluation, treatment and related family/community education and planning for transition to community services.
