Pre-K Speech & Language Pathologist (0.5 FTE)

The Speech/Language Pathologist provides prevention, assessment, and remediation services for students who exhibit difficulties in the areas of language, speech, voice, and fluency. The SLP will be responsible for a caseload of PreK students with language-based learning disabilities, developmental delay, communication disorders, and/or Autism. The SLP works under the supervision of the Principal and Special Education Director. The Principal, based on results of an annual performance evaluation, determines consideration for continued employment.Primary Responsibilities:-Administer screening tests and diagnostic assessments.-Conduct standardized assessments and create formal evaluation reports.-Conduct new and ongoing assessments of skills.-Develop new and updated individualized goals.-Plan and implement direct therapy in small group or individual settings.-Utilize instructional practices that reflect high expectations and that are personalized to accommodate diverse learning styles, needs, interests, and levels of readiness.-Use appropriate diagnostic tools and therapy techniques to support the curriculum.-Collect data on students' performance and provide updates to families, teachers, etc.-Collaborate with families to create and implement strategies for supporting student learning and development both at home and at school.-Write special education progress notes for individual students each trimester.-Participate in special education team meetings, IEP meetings, child study meetings, etc.-Demonstrate the capacity to reflect on the effectiveness of lessons, units, and interactions with students, and use insights gained to improve practice and student learning.-Collaborate effectively with colleagues on a wide range of tasks.-Participate in professional development opportunities.General Expectations:-Meet routine responsibilities consistently.-Manage time to accomplish multiple tasks and meet deadlines.-Maintain strong attendance and punctuality.-Work independently with general guidance.-Maintain cooperative relationships with students and adults.-Operate standard office equipment including computer, email, and copier.-Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.-Support the Principals goals, philosophies, and overall mission of the school.-Perform all other duties assigned by the Principal, within contractual guidelines. Completed CORI request and fingerprints required prior to employment
Job Requirements
-Masters Degree required.-At least three years of relevant experience is preferred, but not required.-DESE Licensure, Speech/Language/Hearing Disorder, Initial or Professional.-Temporary or Provisional licensure will NOT be accepted.-ASHA Certified or eligible.-All applications MUST contain at least three (3) letters of recommendation.
