Job Requirements
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the overall management and supervision of the respiratory therapy
department, ensuring the provision of efficient and effective respiratory care services to
patients. This role involves overseeing respiratory therapists, coordinating schedules,
managing departmental budgets, and maintaining compliance with regulatory
standards. The respiratory manager collaborates with other healthcare professionals to
develop and implement respiratory care plans and protocols, ensuring optimal patient
outcomes.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES
- Provide leadership and direction to respiratory therapy staff, including hiring,
training, and performance management.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment conducive to
professional growth and development.
- Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and protocols to
ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Oversee equipment maintenance and supply management to ensure the
availability of necessary resources for patient care.
- Monitor departmental budgets and financial performance, identifying
opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop
individualized respiratory care plans for patients.
- Develop and oversee educational programs for respiratory therapy staff to ensure
ongoing professional development and competency. Provide guidance and
support to respiratory therapists in staying abreast of advances in respiratory
care practices and technologies.
Facilitate the orientation and training of new respiratory therapy staff members.
Lead quality improvement initiatives related to respiratory care services, including
data collection, analysis, and performance improvement activities. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, accreditation standards,
and hospital policies and procedures.
10.Ensure the delivery of high-quality respiratory therapy services, including oxygen
therapy, mechanical ventilation, and aerosol therapy, among others.
11.Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to achieve
optimal outcomes.
12.Manages quality assurance of blood gas labs focusing on policy and procedure
and meeting all CAP regulatory requirements. This will include testing, validation
studies and correlations and daily maintenance.

Work Experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Associate degree in respiratory therapy or related field
- Licensure: Current State of Florida licensure as a Respiratory Therapist
- Certification:
o Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
o Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare
Provider Completion Card prior to start /transfer date and maintain
o Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support
(ACLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start/transfer date
and maintain
o Current American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support
(PALS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card within 90 days of
start/transfer date and maintain
o Current American Heart Association Neonatal Resuscitation Program
Healthcare Provider Completion Card within 90 days of start/transfer date
and maintain if hospital assigned has a neonatal unit
- Work Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience in respiratory
therapy.
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
o Proficient in Microsoft Office - Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
o Ability to analyze complex clinical scenarios and apply strong critical
thinking skills.
o Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
with physicians, hospital staff, and vendors.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending,
stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching frequently.
- May occasionally include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, with or
without assistance.
- May require moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various
environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out
and above shoulders, or overhead.
- May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or
without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift.
- May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied
temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to loud noise.
- May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and
airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
- Workspace may vary from open to confined, onsite or remote.
- May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county
perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
