Category Schools - OT - Telehealth Job Type Contract Remote School-Based Occupational Therapist (Michigan) Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated and licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our school-based telehealth team, providing remote support to students in Michigan. As our remote OT, you'll collaborate with school staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver evidence-based, student-centered occupational therapy services virtually. Key Responsibilities Conduct Telehealth Evaluations & Assessments Identify students' strengths, challenges, and occupational therapy needs (e.g., fine motor skills, sensory processing, handwriting legibility, self-care readiness). Use standardized tools adapted for telehealth settings. Develop & Implement Individualized Intervention Plans Create SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Timely) goals aligned with IEPs/504 Plans. Provide remote therapy sessions including guided exercises, sensory strategies, and adaptive techniques. Engage & Educate Key Stakeholders Train parents, teachers, and paraprofessionals to implement OT strategies in real time. Empower school staff to carry over interventions during the school day. Monitor Progress & Adjust Plans Track and document student progress. Update IEP goals based on data and team input. Maintain Compliance & Collaboration Adhere to state and school district policies, telehealth regulations, and ethics standards. Collaborate virtually with interdisciplinary teams (SLPs, school psychologists, educators). Documentation & Reporting Maintain timely and thorough documentation: evaluation reports, session notes, IEP goal updates, telehealth consent forms, and attendance records. Required Qualifications Licensure : Valid Occupational Therapy license in Michigan. Certification : Registered Occupational Therapist (OTR) credential from NBCOT. Experience : Minimum of 1 year of pediatric or school-based OT experience; telehealth experience preferred. Technical Skills : Proficient with virtual conferencing platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams) and ability to troubleshoot basic tech issues. Communication : Strong verbal and written communication skills; adept at remote relationship-building. Time Management : Self-directed, organized, and reliable in a remote work environment. Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy. Familiarity with assistive technology and learning management systems (e.g., Google Classroom, Seesaw). Additional training in sensory integration, handwriting intervention, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). Knowledge of Michigan special education laws, IDEA, and Section 504 requirements. Work Environment & Schedule Location : 100% remoteexpect to join live video sessions from a home office.
