**PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
1. Provide appropriate therapy to eligible students, consult with
teachers and other staff members, serve as a resource to faculty,
and participate in Child Study Team.
2. Serve as a resource to school staff members in the development of a
balanced program for oral communication and language development.
3. Provide a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of speech and
hearing disabled students.
4. Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring
suspected speech and language impairments.
5. Provide a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech, voice, and
language impairments.
6. Provide screening to identify speech disabled children in compliance
with state and federal guidelines.
7. Assist in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and
specialists in the community as appropriate.
8. Provide appropriate individualized and group programs of therapy to
meet individual students needs and ameliorate existing speech or
language disabilities.
9. Collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff members
to implement therapy by suggestions from the students daily
activities.
10. Provide in-service education and serve as a consultant to teachers
and school staff members on topics concerning speech improvement.
11. Provide information, support, and counseling to parents and families
when appropriate.
12. Keep thorough ongoing records for the individual student receiving
therapy or other school provided speech services.
13. Attend child study meetings providing appropriate input on the
special needs of students.
14. Conduct annual IEP conferences and other IEP related meetings as
needed, develop appropriate IEP goals and objectives in consultation
with parents and other professionals.
