Job Description and Duties

This recruitment may be used to fill positions in an inpatient and/or outpatient setting.

Under the general medical supervision of the Respiratory Care Supervisor (RCS), Correctional Facility (CF), the Respiratory Care Practitioner, CF, in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary health care team, assists in the evaluation of pulmonary dysfunction in patients and provides the full range of cardiopulmonary therapeutic and diagnostic modalities. The Respiratory Care Practitioner, CF maintains order and supervises the conduct of the incarcerated and protects and maintains the safety of persons and property.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Graduation from an approved respiratory therapy program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care or its predecessor, the Joint Review Committee for Respiratory Therapy Education.

A license to practice Respiratory Care issued by the Respiratory Care Board of California.

The position(s) require(s) a(n) California Respiratory Care issued License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired.

Candidates new to CDCR/CCHCS are required to submit a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.

Applicants who completed their education outside of the US (with foreign degrees/transcripts) must obtain and submit verification of U.S. course/degree equivalency. Foreign education credential evaluation services can be found at NACES | National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.
