A pelvic floor specialist will have an advanced knowledge in the ability to evaluate and treat pelvic and colorectal disorders. A pelvic floor Specialist will also maintain the appropriate education and credentialing as it relates to pelvic and colorectal disorders. A pelvic floor specialist will be required to have completed the appropriate beginner and intermediate training specific to pelvic and colorectal disorders for both males and females.
The beginner training would include (but not limited to) external and internal pelvic floor evaluation and treatment (as it relates to urinary incontinence and/or urogynecological pain syndromes). The intermediate training would include (but not limited to) male pelvic floor including colorectal examination and treatment and manual therapy treatment of pelvic pain and dysautonomia.
Tuesday/Thursdays with some early evening requirement
Develops a comprehensive plan of care and provides treatment with appropriate and effective techniques to achieve established goals with an emphasis on functional status
Provides supervision for physical therapist assistants, P.M & R. technicians, students and volunteers as required.
In collaboration with leadership identifies marketing opportunities and identifies changes in referral patterns that will negatively or positively impact volumes.
Adheres to the Code of Ethics of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Practice Act of the Commonwealth of PA.
Interprets and utilizes clinical data in the treatment plan.
Completes all documentation according to departmental policy and regulatory standards.
Prioritizes and organizes work assignment and adjust priorities based on changing situations.
Follows hospital and departmental infection control policies and procedures when carrying out responsibilities.
Consistently assesses and modifies approach, communication, care, activities, etc. to reflect the needs of patient based on age, cultural diversity and developmental level.
Participates in the continuing education to stay abreast of new research and to fulfill credentialing requirement.
Incorporates education into daily patient activity, and individualizes educational plan based on patient's needs.
Participates in the orientation and training process
Demonstrates competency via successful completion of annual departmental skills checklist.
Participates in performance improvement process as appropriate.
Assumes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Lead/ Manager.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's Degree required & 1 year minimum experience
W orking knowledge of female and male pelvic diagnosis
Current State PT license
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Master's Degree and 5-8 years experience preferred
