TITLE: Massage Therapist – Part-time

DEPARTMENT: Therapeutic Services

POSITION STATUS/HOURS: Part-time position (8 hours/week).

Shifts are Wednesday and Friday 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and

Every 4th Saturday of the month 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

(The Saturday shift will replace the Friday shift for that week).

Non-benefit eligible position.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Massage Therapist uses manual actions to palpate and manipulate the soft tissue of the human body, in order to improve circulation, reduce tension, relieve soft tissue pain, or increase flexibility. He or she must possess a thorough knowledge of the body and excellent communication skills.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties would include, but not be limited to the following:

• Answers the phone, email, and walk-ins in a professional manner, directs as appropriate.

• Reviews patient's medical history, allergies, current medications, patient questionnaire

• Explains procedures to patient before, during and after treatments

• Knowledgeable of equipment, its function and purpose; Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.

• Ensures all safety, infection, quality and environmental procedures and rules are in place and used.

• Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient's safety and reduces the likelihood of errors

• Treats patients and families with respect and dignity

• Provision of care to clients who present for therapeutic services, along with completion of all necessary documentation and paperwork, in a professional and timely manner.

• Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the differences in techniques and treatment modalities as performed on patients of varying ages including pediatric through geriatric

• Massages and kneads muscles and soft tissues of the body to provide treatment for medical conditions, injuries, or wellness maintenance.

• Follows specific protocols to provide consistent massage treatments

• Prepares and blends oils and apply the blends to clients' skin.

• Develops and proposes client treatment plans that specify which types of massages are to be used.

• Demonstrates the ability to order supplies, complete and authorize requisitions.

• Stays current with industry trends, best practices, and remains in good standing in professional organizations applicable to technical background. Participates in relevant continuing education, seminars, professional journal journals and societies.

• Demonstrates teaching skills

• Ability to maintain appropriate record keeping

• Displays strong interpersonal skills, and maintains accountability for actions and decisions

• Ability to work as a team partner in a constant changing environment

• Documentation meets current standards and policies

• Willingness to attend educational workshops for professional growth

• Communicates clearly and concisely with the Outpatient Manager, Rehab Manager and Therapeutics Lead.

• Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.

• Demonstrates the ability to be flexible and organized.

• Leadership abilities

• Strong decision-making skills

• Other tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Massage Therapist License required.

• Knowledge of skin care procedures and products.

• Proficiency in Square system with payment collection, scheduling and documentation is a plus.

• Must possess a thorough knowledge of the body and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Ability to work independently, multitask, and to be flexible with schedule.
