The Customer Operations Specialist (COS) ensures that the local management team complies with all Labour Standards & Training, Health, Safety as well as Loss Prevention guidelines, accident/injury investigations, Security and Environmental regulations and other compliance standards required within Penske and as outsourced by BRP to effectively and safely manage operations in Quebec. The COS is responsible to ensure that facility audits and all inspections are completed on time and accurately. In addition, the COS will work with the Director of Safety and Risk Management, Director of Loss Prevention and other pertinent supporting department heads to gain transferable and applicable knowledge designed to improve standards in the operations. He/she will be responsible to roll-out Canada specific initiatives to include: safety programs, revising policies and procedures, supporting customer safety and compliance inquiries, and monitoring compliance on the dock and with any new project development.
The COS will also roll out any training that pertains to the subjects above as well as C-TPAT, SOLAS, Export Processes and Administration of customer specific procedures, and other Customer required programs, initiatives and reporting requirements. This person will assist in monthly Labour Relation (CRT) meeting, Safety Meetings, and other compliance meetings with Penske and with the Customer. He/she will all so take charge of the local Kaizen LKRT / Quality program to help local Team implement various initiatives related to safety, Environment, Associate Engagement and operational efficiencies. He/she will also ensure all documentation is current and translated into French, to effectively communicate to the local Associates. Furthermore, he/she will liaise with HR, HR Benefits, Onboarding new Associates, CSST, and other related internal and external Labour governance boards.
Major Responsibilities:
- Support Customer and Associates by serving as subject matter expert on compliance and regulations. Support this effort through training, meetings and educational audits.
- Effectively conduct management and operations meetings and promptly answer any pertinent questions relating to their area of expertise.
- Conduct educational and training reviews of the facilities management programs with a focus on compliance.
- Conduct field audits to determine compliance with federal/provincial/local regulations and company policies. This would include C-TPAT and any necessary audit that are required.
- Implement, monitor, and manage programs which reduce workers comp injuries. Direct investigations and follow up on findings of workers comp injuries.
- Implement, monitor, and manage programs which reduce PL Associate accidents. Direct investigations and follow up on findings of accidents.
- Initiate safety communications to Associates concerning safety issues, compliance, pending and current regulations and training initiatives and requirements.
- Work closely with Safety Director, Safety Managers and other Department heads to evaluate areas/items needing corrective action, provide input and guidance, suggest potential options and implement as required.
- Manage the Kaizen database for all BRP (Penske) sites, promote and develop Kaizen activities for the Acton Vale group of accounts.

Qualifications:
- BA in Safety/Loss Prevention, Logistics, or Business Management or equivalent job experience
- 5 years of experience in safety and compliance, transportation, distribution, vehicle maintenance or claims would be ideal
- Experience in setting the standards of expectation in a unionized environment required
- Good understanding of Canada Labour Code regulations and programs along with a thorough knowledge of Federal and Provincial transportation rules and regulations for commercial vehicles
- Strong communications skills required, ability to speak and write in English and French
- Strong customer interaction skills and experience required
- Presentation skills and computer skills required - PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Word
- Must be willing and flexible to travel extensively both by car and plane, averaging 3 nights away per quarter
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
- Willingness to work the required schedule, works at the specific location and complete Penske employment application required.
