Position: 2025-2026 Occupational Therapist
Position Summary: Ridgewood Public Schools seeks a certified Occupational Therapist to support students in grades K through Grade 5 across general education and special education settings. The selected individual will provide direct and consultative occupational therapy services to students with identified needs, in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Responsibilities include conducting evaluations, participating in Child Study Team (CST) and Intervention & Referral Services (I&RS) meetings, collaborating with staff, and supporting students in both inclusive and self-contained classrooms. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with special needs and demonstrate expertise in evaluating and analyzing students' motor and sensory needs, developing short- and long-term goals, and planning and implementing purposeful, therapeutic activities. The Occupational Therapist will support students in the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programs by addressing their sensory integration needs and collaborating with the classroom team to enhance student engagement and regulation. The therapist must be skilled in providing both individual and group therapy services as prescribed by students' IEPs and documenting progress toward goals. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and administrators are essential.
Qualifications:
New Jersey Occupational Therapist Certification
Experience working in school-based settings, preferably at the elementary level
Demonstrated understanding of motor development, sensory integration, and their impact on learning and behavior
Expertise in occupational therapy evaluation, documentation, and progress monitoring
Ability to develop and implement effective, goal-oriented therapeutic interventions
Experience supporting students in ABA programs or similar specialized settings
Knowledge of and ability to meet state and federal mandates related to students with disabilities
Commitment to inclusive education practices and student-centered support
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
Start Date: August 27, 2025 (with 3 Days New Teacher Orientation)
Working Conditions: Full-time, permanent position, medical benefits and pension. Salary range is $68,151-$127,971, commensurate with education and experience as per negotiated contract.
