TITLE: Physical Therapist Assistant

REPORTS TO: Director

QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.

Holds a valid license issued through the Illinois Department of Professional and Financial Regulations, as a Physical Therapy Assistant.

Experience in pediatric or school -based therapy preferred.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Length of employment, salary and benefits determined by the Board of Directors of KASEC

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Service Description

  • Provides itinerant services to students in various KASEC programs and school districts
  • Services may be delivered as direct or consult as determined by students’ IEP teams
  • Services may be delivered using a push-in our pull-out model as determined by students’ IEP teams

Performance Expectations

  • Collaborates in the development and updating of educationally relevant IEP goals/objectives and assists in identifying need for other related services.
  • Measures student outcomes and uses data to review progress with the IEP team.
  • Prepares and submits reports in a timely manner.
  • Works with Physical Therapist to ensure that physician’s orders, parent releases, school records and other therapy related paperwork is on record and reviewed annually.
  • Maintains an attendance record of all therapy services provided for each student and maintains Medicaid reports on a monthly basis.
  • Meets and maintains state requirements for certification or licensure.
  • Assist staff and family in meeting the Physical Therapy (PT) needs of students with disabilities.
  • Carry out educational activities designed by the PT that are multi-purpose by meeting academic, physical, emotional and neurological needs of student with disabilities.
  • Assist teachers and parents in understanding and using selected intervention procedures for home and school.
