About the Position
This is a .8 FTE continuing contract position for an Audiologist that begins at the start of the 2025-2026 school year.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following
- Provide evaluation, intervention, and consultation services for children with hearing loss; Special Education and/or regular program classes, preschool through age 21.
- Assess communication skills (auditory training, hearing-related speech and language, self-advocacy skills, speechreading) of hard of hearing and deaf students.
- Design and implement individualized remedial program for students selected for caseload.
- Provide information and ongoing support to teachers, parents, and other staff to interpret hearing loss and related deficits and their effect on academic, linguistic and social skills, and management of hearing loss.
- Provide technical assistance to hard of hearing students, teacher, parents, and other staff related to amplification including hearing aids, cochlear implants, BAHA amplification devices, FM systems, and classroom systems.
- Identify students with hearing disorders as needed.
- Collaborate with Clinic Audiologists and community health care providers regarding impact of hearing loss on school performance, issues with amplification and treatment plan to provide consistency of care between clinic and school.
- Proficiency in use of diagnostic assessment procedures for various speech/language disorders associated with hearing loss, including, auditory processing, discrimination advocacy, communication skills, speechreading as well as experience in providing intervention for said disorders.
- Willingness to travel throughout the District (personal car). Ability to troubleshoot amplification systems (personal and sound field); ability to train school staff on use and care of equipment, advocate on behalf of students.
- This position also requires: experience in hearing testing; proficiency in principles of amplification; ability to make earmold impressions, revise and maintain earmolds, ability to provide counseling support related to hearing loss; ability to provide academic tutoring support.
Required Qualifications:
Washington State Educational Staff Associate (ESA) Certificate with an Audiologist or Speech Language Pathologist endorsement or the ability to obtain one prior to the position start date.

Salary:
2024-25 Salary Schedule Range: $80,136 through $143,159 (2025-26 Salary Schedule not yet finalized). Placement on this salary schedule is determined by FTE and official documentation verifying Educational Level and Certificated Work Experience and will be prorated for less than a full year and/or FTE.
Benefits:
Our benefits package includes Washington state health insurance coverage (SEBB) and a Washington state retirement package for eligible positions.
- Eligibility for health insurance is based on whether the employee is anticipated to be compensated at least 630 hours per school year (September 1 through August 31). For the 2024-25 school year a .5 FTE continuing contract position will meet that eligibility threshold. Eligibility for a non-continuing contract position will be determined at the time of hire by counting the total anticipated compensated hours from the date of hire through the end of the non-continuing contract. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Long-term Disability, Life and AD+D Insurance and options for HSA, FSA and DCAP.
- Eligibility for retirement is based on whether the employee is anticipated to work at least 70 hours per month for 5 months during the school year. For the 2024-25 school year a .6 FTE (either continuing or non-continuing) meets that eligibility threshold.

The position may require moving objects regularly weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds. Visual requirements include performing close-range tasks and adjusting focus as necessary.
