Job Posting Description

Provides Physical Therapy evaluation, treatment, teaching, and consultation to the pediatric patient and the occasional adult patient.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Demonstrates proficiency in treatment techniques of physical therapy for the pediatric patient
Adheres to the American Physical Therapy Association Code of Ethics
Administers tests and applies evaluation techniques to determine functional status and identify therapy needs
Analyzes evaluation results and designs a therapy program to meet needs of patient and family, incorporating factors of child's developmental and medical history, social environment and educational placement
Implements an individualized therapy plan of care. Instructs patient, caregivers, teachers (for KDS student) and support personnel, as appropriate, for carryover of therapeutic activities
Evaluates need for therapy equipment and assistive devices. Instructs patient, caregivers, teachers (for KDS student) and support personnel in use and care of assistive devices and equipment
Evaluates and reports patient progress to treatment team, caregiver(s) and supervisor as necessary. Strongly communicates with other members of the Franciscan Children's care team and outside providers as appropriate and necessary, to ensure comprehensive interdisciplinary care.
Participates in discharge planning, including coordination of services with other providers and caregiver(s)
Adheres to department documentation and productivity guidelines
May supervise physical therapy support personnel (examples: PTA, PT student, PT Aide)
Participates in department quality improvement initiatives
Maintains professional knowledge which may include attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, participating in continuing educational opportunities and/or membership in the APTA
Designs and teaches home program and determines need for any adaptation to home environment
Successfully completes hospital and department specific orientation and ongoing mandatory educational and regulatory requirements
Other essential duties may be assigned as necessary to the operation of the department
Hours meet the needs of the department
Assigned program(s) meet the needs of the department and may vary based on departmental need
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree from an accredited program- doctorate preferred. A minimum of one year pediatric experience is preferred. Pediatric experience or new graduates with graduate clinical experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of professional therapy principles, practices, concepts, and procedures as applied to the care of the pediatric population
Strong organizational and time management skills
Capable of prioritizing and triaging priorities
Able to provide clear and meaningful feedback to patients and caregiver(s)
Understands and maintains confidentiality and complies with HIPAA and FERPA guidelines for patients and employees
Adheres to Franciscan Children's safety and security standards
Adherence to Joint Commission Standards
Proficient in Microsoft 365 and applicable electronic health record documentation
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Uses hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
Stands for long periods of time while examining patients
Speak clearly so listeners can understand
Able to consistently lift (including patient transfers) 40 pounds multiple times throughout the day while utilizing proper body mechanics
