About the Role
SHPH is currently seeking a Full-Time Speech Therapist. The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients with speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, swallowing, and related disorders. Working in a critical access hospital, the SLP provides services across the lifespanoften in acute care, outpatient, swing bed, and sometimes home health settingssupporting patients with complex medical needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate and diagnose speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders.
Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs, goals, and physician recommendations.
Provide direct therapy services to patients across a variety of settings (inpatient, outpatient, swing bed).
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, occupational and physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
Perform and interpret Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBSS), if certified/trained.
Educate patients, families, and caregivers on communication techniques, swallowing precautions, and home exercises.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to discharge planning.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, HIPAA, and all applicable regulations and licensure standards.
Requirements
Must be a graduate of an approved school of Speech Language Pathology and a graduate of an accredited college or university with a Master's degree or higher in Speech Language Pathology.
Must be licensed by the State of Louisiana and maintain a license in good standing.
Must hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence by the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association.
Must maintain CPR and TB skin testing in accordance with hospital policy.
