Salary Range:

$93,778.00 To $113,900.00 Annually

Responsibilities: Provides direct restorative treatment of patients carries out administrative duties associated with patient care, and contributes to program operations as assigned.

Requirements:

B.S, Masters or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy.

Current NYS OT License.

Current BLS certification from American Heart Association.

EPIC experience preferred.

Work Schedule: Sunday-Thursday, 7:15am-3:45pm

WORK PERFORMED:

1. Responsible for direct patient/resident care as appropriate to site:

a. Performs evaluations of patients/residents using standard and adapted techniques.

b. Develops appropriate short and long term goals

c. Develops basic treatment plans based on evaluation results that lead to achievement of goals.

d. Provides age appropriate treatment based on evaluation results that lead to achievement of goals.

e. Evaluates and recommends patient/resident need for durable medical equipment, completes appropriate justifications, distributes information to patient/resident on purchase or arranges for order and distribution of apparatus, is familiar with insurance requirements.

f. Completes documentation according to facility time frames and requirements.

g. Correctly identifies and bills for therapy services rendered.

h. Attends and reports at rounds and team conferences.

i. Is aware of safety precautions and able to carry out emergency procedures.

j. Attends and participates in in-service programs.

k. Fabricates adaptive equipment and splints.

l. Provides patient/resident/family education and training and participates in family conferences.

m. Demonstrates ability to lead treatment group

n. Communicates with patients/residents clearly and adjusts approach based on their needs/abilities.

o. Collaborates with Occupational Therapy Assistant in providing treatment to achieve goals.

p. Responsible for a minimum of 100% direct patient care at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital site.

2. Contributes to efficient hospital/facility, program/department and team functioning.

a. Active participant in hospital/facility, program/department and team functioning.

b. Volunteers assistance where needed.

c. Supervises OTAs, rehab aides and volunteers as appropriate.

d. Provides in-service training for staff as requested.

e. Notifies the Director/Manager of need for equipment, materials or supplies, or follows department procedure.

f. Participates in program/department maintenance.

g. Maintains and contributes to safe work environment.

h. Maintains an awareness of program/hospital issues, projects a cooperative attitude, and promotes positive problem solving.

i. Complies with program and facility mission, values and policies.

j. Covers for team leader as indicated.

k. Participates in new staff orientation as indicated.

3. Participates in student training program as needed.

4. Actively participates in the supervision process:

a. Reviews evaluation results, treatment plan and goals with OTA.

b. Communicates needs to appropriate program/department personnel.

c. Modifies performance in response to feedback.

d. Notifies appropriate personnel of unusual patient/resident findings in a timely manner.

e. Demonstrates an awareness of limitations and seeks supervision appropriately.

5. Demonstrates the ability to translate knowledge of physical, psycho-social and cognitive-perceptual changes related to age into assessments, treatment plans and treatment modalities for pediatric, adolescent, young adult, adult and geriatric patients/residents.

6. Completes annual career ladder requirements.

7. Practices Standard Precautions. Follows regulations, policies and guidelines on the prevention of infections; does not eat or drink in patient care areas.

8. Maintains confidentiality of information; abides by HIPAA regulations.

9. Maintains a professional image and follows Hospital's policy on uniforms; consistently wears hospital ID.

10. Demonstrates reliable, on-time attendance, which is an essential function of all jobs at Burke.

11. Completes mandatory annual learning (Learning Harbor) within deadline.

12. Personally adheres to Burke C.A.R.E.S. philosophy by demonstrating compassion, accountability, respect and exceeding expectations through service excellence.

13. Performs other job related duties as assigned.
