Division: Lower School (PreKGrade 5)
Reports to: Head of Lower School
Collaborates with: Director of Teaching and Learning, Faculty, Families

Function Overview:
King School seeks a dedicated and experienced Occupational Therapist to serve as a part time consultant for our elementary division. The OT Consultant will work four (4) hours per week and collaborate closely with the Head of Lower School, the Director of Teaching and Learning, classroom teachers, and families to support students motor, sensory, and self-regulation development. This consultant is part-time and consultative in nature, designed to enhance student access to learning and well-being through screenings, in-class support, and collaborative planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct occupational therapy screenings and observations for students in PreK through Grade 2, as identified by faculty or the administrative team.
  • Complete written screening reports in a timely manner and share results with the Head of Lower School, Director of Teaching and Learning, classroom teachers, and families.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct targeted OT screenings and classroom observations as requested by faculty or administration.
  • Provide timely written reports with actionable recommendations.
  • Offer consultative guidance to teachers on integrating motor and sensory strategies into daily routines.
  • Consult with families regarding developmental concerns, at-home strategies, and potential referrals.
  • Participate in student support meetings to provide an OT perspective on an as needed basis.
  • Maintain confidential and accurate documentation of all screenings, communications, and interventions in alignment with school and professional standards.

Qualifications:

  • Contract based role, professional liability insurance required
  • Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy; licensed in Connecticut
  • Minimum three years of pediatric or school-based OT experience preferred.
  • Expertise in sensory integration, motor development, and executive functioning.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and consultative skills.
  • Familiarity with independent schools helpful
