Summary of Job Duties: The Executive Director of the Respiratory Therapy Program (PD) provides effective leadership and oversight of the program, with responsibilities including but not limited to curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation; strategic planning and continuous improvement; internal and external communication; and fiscal and operational management of the RespiratoryCare Program in accordance with the standards of the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC), Arkansas Department of Higher Education, and the University of Arkansas Fort Smith (UAFS). The PD ensures program effectiveness through curriculum oversight, faculty coordination, continuous quality improvement, and compliance with accreditation requirements. This position reports to the Dean of the College of Health, Education, and Human Sciences.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Masters degree or higher from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
Current license to practice (or eligibility to obtain) as a respiratory therapist in Arkansas.
Minimum of four years experience as an RRT, of which at least two years include clinical respiratory care and two years teaching in an accredited respiratory care program.
Demonstrated knowledge of CoARC accreditation standards and programmatic leadership.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide academic leadership and ensure program compliance with CoARC accreditation standards.
Maintain and evaluate curriculum in alignment with national respiratory care education competencies and employer expectations.
Lead program evaluation and outcomes assessment processes, including data collection and reporting to CoARC.
Recruit, mentor, and supervise program faculty, promoting excellence in teaching and professional development.
Coordinate and lead advisory board activities for continuous stakeholder engagement.
Serve as the liaison between the program and accrediting agencies, maintaining current knowledge of accreditation requirements.
Develop and implement policies and procedures related to student admission, progression, and graduation.
Participate in budget planning and resource allocation.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach didactic and/or clinical courses.
Participate in college-wide and community service initiatives.
Maintain office hours to support student advising and mentorship.
Ensure program visibility and collaboration with community healthcare providers.
Engage in scholarly activities and professional development.
Maintain CPR certification and other credentials relevant to respiratory care education.
