Overview
The Respiratory Therapy Supervisor is responsible for the administration of oxygen, therapeutic gas, and respiratory medications to patients in accordance with physician orders. Additionally, the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor has thorough knowledge of the area under supervision. Ensures all policies and procedures are followed. Collaborates with other clinical and operational stakeholders including key physicians and other health care disciplines involved in the management of the Respiratory Care patients. Serves as part of a collaborative management team focused on promoting the Mission, Vision, and Values of RHS and the Respiratory Care Department, promotes Respiratory Care Services across the continuum and enhancing value-driven outcomes. Responsible for ensuring high quality patient care and enhancing accountability for value-driven outcomes.

What you will do
  • Demonstrates intermediate to advanced technical knowledge/clinical competencies in clinical practice as evidenced by the ability to assume a role in the provision of patient care as needed. Monitors clinical activities to identify both expected and unexpected risks. Demonstrates the ability to address physician issues/concerns and follow-through within 72 hours.
  • Demonstrates accountability for ensuring availability of resources (equipment, instruments, supplies) necessary to ensure positive patient outcomes.
  • Coordinates staffing to maximize efficient, cost-effective productivity. Demonstrates ability to identify and contribute to cost reduction and standardization of supplies and equipment.
  • Demonstrates the ability to define employee strengths and opportunities for individual advancement to include development of an action plan to improve performance and outcomes.
  • Demonstrates respect, concern and empathy for patients/families/customers with diverse cultural and emotional needs. Demonstrates competency and skills in the proactive identification and follow-through of issues to include resolution. Provides service recovery to dissatisfied customers.
  • Demonstrates and ensure team understands and responds to suggestions and concerns from patients/ visitors, personnel, medical staff and leadership.
  • Safety/Regulatory standards maintained and demonstrate progress and process improvement.
  • Engages in the on-boarding initiative by seeking out opportunities to engage new employees so as to reduce avoidable turnover.

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelors Degree, Respiratory Therapy (Required) and
  • Masters Degree, Respiratory Therapy (Preferred)

Experience
  • 2 years Respiratory Therapist experience in hospital setting (Required)
  • 1 year Previous experience in a coordinator or supervisor role (Required)

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of Respiratory trends, processes and procedures utilized in the industry.
  • Proficient computer skills to perform job duties.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills for effective communication with staff, management, and patients.

Licenses and Certifications
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) - The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Upon Hire(Required) and
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Upon Hire(Required) and
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required) and
  • ACLS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
  • PALS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 1 Year(Required)
