Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an Occupational Therapist with at least 2 years of experience for an acute care assignment covering inpatient or outpatient settings and requiring BLS certification.
Responsibilities- Position is based in an acute care setting with both inpatient and outpatient coverage
- Patient populations include orthopedic, neurological, pediatric, medical, surgical, bariatric, ICU, cardiac, rehab, and sub-acute cases
- Inpatient therapists may cover general inpatient, rehab, and sub-acute units; outpatient assignments may involve working in standalone clinics specializing in ortho and sports medicine
- Common diagnoses include spinal cord injuries, stroke, brain injuries, general ortho, lymphedema, and long-term vented patients
- Work schedule is days, 8-hour shifts from 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday, with one Saturday per month, weekend and holiday rotation required
- Cerner EMR is used in the facility
- Therapists may be hired specifically for inpatient or outpatient needs as determined by the facility
- Orientation includes 3 floor-specific shifts
- Standard uniform is a provided polo with khakis or black pants
- All candidates must pass a Relias exam if offered a position in California or Arizona
- Dysrhythmia exam (Relias) must be completed prior to contract and is a pass/fail requirement with two attempts allowed
- Sterile technique testing for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes required on the first day of orientation
- Therapists typically cover one major and one minor holiday as part of the staff rotation
- Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible
- Active Occupational Therapist license required if applicable
- Current BLS certification is required
- Minimum of 2 years Occupational Therapy experience
- Experience in acute care or similar settings preferred
