Job Summary and Qualifications To provide physical therapy patient care based on Physical evaluation/assessment that is appropriate for patients needs and medical condition. Performs Pre-Admission, Admission, and ongoing Assessments related to patients condition and/or plan of care. In conjunction with the patient, family, and rehabilitation team, an interdisciplinary treatment plan is developed, with initial assessment data providing the basis for development of program goals and intervention strategies. Provides direct physical therapy intervention based on the interdisciplinary treatment plan and established priorities appropriate to patient developmental age. Evaluates and documents the patients response to physical therapy intervention in relation to the stated goals on the interdisciplinary treatment plan

What you will do in this role:

Provides supervision and appropriate clinical direction to Aides, Students, Volunteers, and Observers.

Serves as clinical instructor for physical therapist assistant students as needed.

Adheres to all regulatory agency standards pertaining to physical therapy. (JCHAO, APTA, Medicare, Insurance, HIPAA)

Documentation of patient care is completed in a timely manner.

Participates in special assignments as requested by Director and Assistant Director.

Actively pursues professional growth through affiliation with professional associations, workshop attendance at hospitals, conferences, etc.

Actively contributes to the department's educational activities.

Functions as a resource to Rehab and hospital staff.

Assists with orientation of new staff.

Demonstrates a clear understanding of the parameters of responsibility, quality, quantity, and time frames involved in tasks delegated.

Successfully manages a case load meeting department standard.

Utilizes the scheduler appropriately. Schedules patients and meetings accurately.

Charges are accurate and completed daily.

Interventions are supervised, safe, effective, and consistent with the rehabilitation plan. Ask for assistance as needed.

Daily documentation includes all necessary elements according to regulatory standards - JCAHO, APTA, Medicare, insurance and The Guide to Physical Therapy Practice.

Under the direction of a Physical Therapist, implements care based on the initial evaluation findings, goals, and plan of care.

Progress towards patient goals is documented for each treatment.

Indicates supervising Physical Therapist on all progress notes.

Assists the treating team with timely reassessments, updated referrals for treatment and discharge notes.

Considers discharge planning throughout the course of the patient's care.

Administers therapy appropriate to patient's age.

Regularly confers with supervising Physical Therapist to discuss patient progress and plan of care.

Immediately notifies the supervising Physical Therapist of any changes in the patient's condition.

Flexes schedule to accommodate unscheduled patients.

Demonstrates willingness to adjust personal schedule in case of unit crisis or real department need.

Demonstrates "time consciousness" and strives to use time effectively.

What qualifications you will need: Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

Certificate must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

A minimum of an associates degree from an accredited PTA program required

Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of Texas required

A minimum of 1 year experience in acute, IP or OP required, orthopedics preferred

Must be able to work 2 weekend shifts a month (day shifts)
