School Occupational Therapist

Category Schools - OT Job Type Contract An opportunity is available for a skilled Occupational Therapist to support a K-12 school setting in Latrobe, PA, during a maternity leave assignment from January through May. This contract role offers a structured schedule working Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, serving students across 2 to 3 buildings. Key responsibilities include conducting comprehensive evaluations and assessments for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or 504 plans. The therapist will develop individualized treatment plans and goals that address both educational and functional needs. Providing direct therapy in individual and small group settings is essential to promote student independence and participation. Collaboration plays a critical role in this position, with regular interaction among teachers, staff, and families to ensure alignment and support for student progress. Adapting classroom materials and environments to enhance student independence is a vital function. Thorough documentation of therapy sessions, progress notes, and compliance with state and district guidelines is required. Participation in IEP meetings will offer opportunities to contribute expert input on occupational therapy goals and accommodations. Additionally, training staff and caregivers on strategies to support functional skills in the school environment will be part of the role. Qualifications/Desired Experience: Licensed Occupational Therapist with experience in school-based practice Ability to manage a caseload of approximately 75-85 students Experience collaborating with educational teams and families Strong documentation and compliance skills Capability to provide training to staff and caregivers Familiarity with working alongside Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) This role offers an engaging professional experience within a supportive educational environment.
