A K-12 educational institution in Delta, UT, is seeking a skilled Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist on a contract basis. This role supports students with hearing impairments by providing tailored educational strategies and interventions to promote their academic success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and identify the unique needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments.
- Provide direct instruction and therapeutic support to students.
- Monitor student progress and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Maintain detailed records and reports on student performance.
- Support communication access through assistive technologies and sign language as needed.
Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or equivalent.
- Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in K-12 settings.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other relevant communication methods.
- Strong understanding of hearing loss impacts on learning and development.
