Reports to: Occupational Therapy Assistant Program Director
Classification: Full-time, 12-month Employee

Purpose of Position: The Occupational Therapy Assistant Fieldwork
Coordinator/Instructor reports to the
Occupational Therapy Assistant Program Director, and is responsible for
coordination of clinical and
community sites, student fieldwork placement and tracking, teaching
assigned course/s, assisting with
curriculum development and instructional strategies, and program
maintenance in accordance with
requirements set forth by the Accreditation Council for Occupational
Therapy Education and the institutional
policies.
Essential Functions
Provide premier quality service to all constituencies of the College.
Engage in continuous quality improvement and professional development.
1\. Fieldwork Coordination
a\. Review and evaluate clinical facilities for educational value.
b\. Establish and maintain clinical contract agreements with facilities
appropriate to meet course and
program outcomes.
c\. Maintain communication with site contact person(s) to ensure site
specific objectives are met each
semester.
d\. Coordinate Fieldwork experiences for students and site supervisors.
Provide students with fieldwork
site contact and general information, as well as monitor their
completion of site requirements.
e\. Maintain Fieldwork site data and provide support and training to
fieldwork educators.
f\. Monitor students progress during fieldwork placements.
g\. Ensure fieldwork assessments and evaluation occur according to
established program procedures and
accreditation standards.
h\. Assume responsibility for implementing Fieldwork Performance
Evaluation procedures and training
facility fieldwork educators on these procedures.
i\. Ensure the development of links between the fieldwork and didactic
aspects of the curriculum.
j\. Communicate with fieldwork educators regularly. Visit fieldwork as
needed for assessing site
effectiveness, fieldwork educator qualifications, and student
performance.
k\. Collect and analyze data related to fieldwork performance.
l\. Release time is allotted to ensure adequate Fieldwork coordination
and site visits, e.g., scheduling
coverage of coursework as needed.
2\. Instruction
a\. Ensure clinical course assessment and revisions occur according to
established program and
institutional procedures.
b\. Teach courses in the occupational therapy assistant program as
assigned with a maximum .50 FTE
instruction.
c\. Conduct student review and evaluation through required program and
institutional procedures.
d\. Create and revise coursework learning activities and assessment
measures per course syllabi and
ACOTE standards.
3\. Student Advising/Evaluation
a\. Assist with the student application process and ongoing student
advisement throughout the OTA
course sequence.
b\. Assist in development and implementation of OTA student projects,
tutoring, or other activities.
c\. Assist in tracking and monitoring student progress in the program,
specifically with clinical work.
4\. Program/Curriculum Development
a\. Assist in program assessment and curriculum development following
established procedures.
b\. Assist with data collection related to graduates certification exam
preparation/result and obtainment
of employment.
Other Duties
a\. Participate in departmental and college planning through committee
assignments and meetings.
b\. Assist the Director and Dean of Outreach and Workforce Developme nt
in projects as assigned.
c\. Engage in personal Professional Development related to job
responsibilities.
d\. Participate in the OTA Advisory Board and/or other program events.
e\. Assist with OTA Student Organization.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1\. High degree of ethical standards, including confidentiality,
adherence to general rules of safety,
procedures, and fair labor standards.
2\. Exceptional ability to organize and coordinate projects.
3\. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
4\. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
5\. Attention to detail.
6\. Knowledge of Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy
Education (ACOTE).
7\. Excellent computer skills.
8\. Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports.
