Speech Language Pathologist

Job Summary

This position provides speech and language evaluations, consultation, and direct services to eligible students.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree, preferred
  • DESE License of Speech Language and Hearing Disorders (All Levels) Required
  • Commonwealth of Massachusetts Division of Professional Licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist
  • American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certification
  • Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC), Required
  • Experience as a Speech and Language Pathologist in a school setting preferred
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in the areas of child speech and language development
  • Ability to handle multitude of varying and complex issues
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Provide opportunities for the integration of technology into the classroom.

Responsibilities

  • Provide students with intensive instruction in speech, language, communication, and pragmatic language skills as determined by the Team process and subsequent IEP formulation.
  • Assess students via formal and informal test measures and write formal reports.
  • Participate in the development of a student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).
  • Assist teachers and other special education staff in the development and implementation of curriculum accommodations/modifications and appropriate classroom strategies as determined by the Team process and subsequent IEP formulation.
  • Create a developmentally appropriate, child-centered environment that establishes positive student behavioral expectations conducive to all learners' needs.
  • Provide an equitable and inclusive learning environment that is responsive to all learners and their families.
  • Partner with families to create strong two way communication.
  • Maintain appropriate records and provide timely reports.
  • Collaborate and communicate with all colleagues to positively contribute to the school culture.
  • Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques for students with communication disorders.
  • Responsible for other job-related duties as needed.
